Peter

Peter Phillips was born July 5, 1815 in Dundee, Scotland. There is very little information about Peter, he was listed in the 1861 census at the age of 45, living in Govan, Lanarkshire, Scotland. At the age of 75 he was listed in the 1891 census living at 53 High St. Portobello, Scotland. He died on June 18, 1892, he was 76. We do know that he became a Shipwright, one who designs and builds ships. His occupation, listed in the old parochial register, (photo copy below) when he married Margaret on February 21, 1839. Nothing more has been uncovered describing Peter's childhood or exploits after becoming an adult.
Margaret was born March 1821 in Angus County, Scotland. She resided in Portobello, Parish, Scotland with Peter in 1891, she died around 1893, not long after Peter, she was 71. Margaret gave birth to a son on March 20, 1839, John Creighton Phillips, born in Dundee, Angus, Scotland. He was christened April 3, 1841; he was two years old. The reason for the delay is unknown. She also gave birth to three girls: Margaret Morrison (Twin) 1843; Elizabeth Creighton (Twin) 1843; Isabella (1845).
